What are the Teaching Resources?

Together with expert Education and Ethics academics from Monash University and the University of Melbourne, we have curated a set of evidence-based resources for secondary school teachers. With direct links to the Australian Curriculum: Science, specifically years 8-12, teachers will find support to develop and structure a range of activities for students.

The Teaching Resource is designed to complement real-life Stories from the Labs, a series of 23 videos featuring scientists at the forefront of stem cell research in Australia. These stories illustrate the nature of science by showcasing the diversity, collaboration and human agency which drive scientific innovation. The stories also highlight the excitement, challenges, rapid progress and opportunities offered through stem cell research.

Combined, the Stories from the Labs and the At the Frontier of Tomorrow’s Medicine Teaching Resource for Australian Secondary School Teachers illustrate Science as a Human Endeavour, a key strand of the Australian Curriculum: Science.

How can you use these Teaching Resources?

To help you bring stem cells into the classroom we have developed the main Teaching Resource for Australian Secondary School Teachers, and two accompanying modules called Ethics and Stem Cells and Life as a Researcher. Please start by downloading the Teaching Resource, followed by the other two modules as needed. Each are accessible for download in a PDF format below.
